My grandma and your grandpa, burning by the camper...
12 August 2022
Generational trauma, self-harm, absent and adulterous parents, murder, abuse and hate: your average American small-town family living the broken dream!

In a tragedy the hero dies. In a comedy she finds herself, her path, her future, her lover, husband or God. In an action things blow up. This film is all three!

Jennifer Lawerence (Don't Look Up), Charlize Theron (Monster) and Kim Bassinger (Nine 1/2 Weeks) in roles that bare feminity to its core. The tough choices, sometimes wrong when they feel right, and right when they feel wrong, these women live their mistakes harshly and unforgivingly, like the climate its set.

It could be considered a film-length TeleNovela except for the emotional and exceptional acting of the female leads! The ending ties up your suspicions neatly and succinctly, without note or text to define the eras you've born witness.

Something to watch and consider, profound and simple simultaneously. And the dedication to the characters' names makes one wonder where the real people that inspired this film are now, and if they lived the Hollywood happy ending or the independent film with its multiple paths, left to the viewer to decide!
