Just decent. I never read the adapted novel so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The seedy, criminal dealings were almost tolerably uninteresting and the uncle character was painfully irritating in most of his scenes. I did however like the Mary and Jem scenes, they had good chemistry. The climatic scene was underwhelming and the plot twist was unnecessary. I guess it's recommended if you've read the book, but for other film goers who haven't, it's just a mildly decent TV mini series period drama that's better off being shelved.
