Decent indie film w/good performances and beautiful cinematography
1 August 2022
Important subject matter (re: human trafficking) has been mined before in other indie films (e.g. HOLLY, YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE, CATCH THE FAIR ONE) and while they pack more of an emotional punch, PARADISE HIGHWAY is a good addition to the genre. A slow-burn thriller movie, writer/director Anna Gutto does a good job of bringing us into the truck driving world, which is ripe for human trafficking. Although there are some plot points that require suspension of disbelief, Gutto gets good performances from the actors and the cinematography is beautiful. Worth checking out.
