Really good drama
27 July 2022
Even though it definitely feels its length and the way it answers it's central mystery can be a little frustrating, Where the Crawdads Sing is still a really good drama that has performances and visuals strong enough to keep you engaged from beginning to end.

Daisy Edgar-Jones gives a terrific lead performance, conveying so much pain and heartbreak through looks alone and has solid chemistry with both love interests. David Strathairn is also memorable with a constant warmth that makes him easy to like.

Olivia Newman's direction is great, the film is consistently handsomely mounted with some particularly impressive shots. The music by Mychael Danna is good, suitably era appropriate without ever overshadowing the more dramatic moments.
