The movie was good, and it was probably better for those who didn't read the book. I found the focus to be way too much on the men in her life, then on her. She is the main character of this story, yet her life as portrayed in the movie revolved around Chase and Tate. They also left out another main character - the marsh! The book went into great detail about how Kya could disappear in the marsh, and how the gulls were her lifesaver when she was young. While the movie hinted at this, it was definitely lost on the big screen. The casting was spot on though and especially Tate's character.
