My thoughts on S2

Warning: Spoilers
Prison break season 2 has finally come to an end. My problem with this 22-episode show is that by the time you've finished watching them you will end up with having a backache. Lol. This season has been a wild ride. We follow the aftermath of the events that happened in the last season. Unlike the first season, this season barely features our protagonists in prison. Well one could say they're still in prison in he form of fear. New characters are introduced and lots of old ones are gone. Throughout the season, there has been a lot of backstabbing, double-crossing, conspiracy, lots twists and turns that takes the viewer with surprise at times. Some characters had realistic run while others are completely unconvincing.

Alexander Mahone is a special agent assigned to bring back the eight escapees back to their little cells before they could do any further damage. I have to say, Alex has grown to become my favorite character this season and the best new character so far. He is equally smart as our protagonist, very committed to do his job all while dealing with his personal demons. At some point I rooted while in some cases I don't. He's not always good and he knows it and that's why I like the character. Although, at times the way he solved the puzzles is a bit too much, as the puzzles are just too overwhelming or too confusing to solve even for the designer of such puzzles - Michael.

Michael Scofield, he is the main protagonist and the brains behind the whole escape. Michael always had one goal; to go in prison, break out with his "innocent" brother and disappear forever. What Michael didn't anticipate, however, is the many obstacles he'd encounter along the way including falling in love with Sara, many cons tagging along in their escape, a powerful, shadowy organization that's responsible for framing his brother and now wants them dead etc This season features alot of that obstacles and how he resolved them. I thought as a character Michael is fine although at times he seems too good to be true. In the later of the season, we see how all the events is taking a toll on him, which leads to one of my favorite scene where he wonders if it all worth it and the Scofield brothers have a little fight. We also find out about his traumatic childhood and his absentee father. His development has been good so far. The interplay between him and Alex was intense, they're well match and you can feel their chemistry even when not sharing the screen.

Lincoln Burrows, the reason behind the whole thing. Linc unlike his brother, he's a type of person that does and think later. Well that's not true for the most parts, as throughout their run, he came up with some bright ideas that saved their lives at times but also his decisions sometimes ruined their plan of escape. He is not a brainiac, he's a straight forward person who was framed for something he did not do, not only him but also his son was accused of the same. So he's kinda half-happy half-sad about the whole situation. We also found out that the brothers are both orphans from a younger age; they got nobody but themselves from the start. So Michael doing everything to save his brother kinda make sense. There's an episode where Lincoln abandoned their escape plan and chooses to go for his son who was still in police custody. And not that, whenever everything is back on course one of them had to come up with something that sabotage the whole thing. I found these decisions annoying and there was many of those decisions that stall time and stretch the story longer than it should have been.

Sara Tancredi; a doctor whom Michael befriended during his time in prison and she ultimately became part of Michael's escape plan and love interest. We follow Sarah through the aftermath of the events of the last season. We see how the events affected her mental health, job and life in general. She also find herself mingle in the ongoing government conspiracy. Sarah is tough and smart. And that's one aspect I like about the character. There was certain scene where she was being tortured for information and even though she had something that they wanted she didn't give them because she knew it won't make that much of a difference. And her relationship with Bill is something else

Theodore "T-bag" Bagwell; He is obviously the most dangerous among the escapees. T bag visit more places than the rest I think and everywhere he goes he left a dead body behind I feel as though he had the most unrealistic run as there were countless of instances where he should easily get caught or simply bleed out to death and everytime he gets in a fight inorder to overpower someone, he always succeeded despite having an injured hand. Now I have say despite, his heinous and villainy acts, I found the character entertaining, perhaps the most entertaining of the lot. His parts always gets your attention. We also get to learn about his childhood that more or less lead him to become the man he is presently. He is also kinda in love with his wife? But has a reallly weird way of showing it. And he is the only one who gets to spend large chunk of the money so.... That's something I guess. The ending for the character is a bit ambiguous and I can't wait to find out where his goes from there.

Fernando Sucre; Michael's cellie and closest friend. Now he is arguably one of the soft-hearted of the lot as love is his sole motivation for breaking out. While sweet, i found that stupid and the overall character to be somewhat annoying for that reason. He had no plans for them to start a new life but rather to just grab her at any moment he finds her and ride off to the sunset??. And like Burrows, during one execution of a grand plan, he decided to leave and go for his "Maricruz". I don't know why they keep doing that but it's annoying and drags the plot back and stalls time. The ending for the character is also not clear and I want to see how whether or not he gets to see Maricruz again.

Brad bellick, he started out really strong and almost the big baddie of the first season but things went bad for him after Michael's escape. His life got turned upside down after the breakout because he's the officer in charge and will be held accountable for the prisoner's escape. He was subsequently fired for his bad behavior and then gets tangle up with the escapees on getting the five million dollars prize. His path crossed with many of the escaped characters, how he is able to track them so easily is a mystery to me but it could be that he knows them well and could think like them. He initially, formed an unlikely alliance with Roy Geary. They were able to set aside their differences for the common goal until Geary betrayed him. Now I didn't expect Bellick to be featured much in this season but how he was incorporated into the story was most of the time natural; although there were certain instances were I thought 'it's impossible for him to be there or to do that". He's a greedy man and things didn't end so well for him especially towards the end. I'm quite excited to see him at Sona and can't wait to find out the fate of the character.

Benjamin Miles C Note; he believes he's innocent and like Linc was framed for something he didn't do. He was able to tag along and managed to escape. His motivation for breaking out is to reunite with his family and then live happily ever after. But that's not possible now is it? Anyone with a sense would know that, that's a lame thing to do. He's on the run, wanted all over the country and as if that's not enough, he wants to drag his family into it and jeopardize their lives. However though, he's one of the sympathetic characters. A family man at heart. During the later part of the season, things turned bad for him; His wife got arrested, his daughter got sick and he is left with no any other option but to turn himself in. He eventually strucked a deal Alex that if he rats out Michael and co, then his family will be taken care of. But this go in a way that's not expected and he is wanted to be eliminated which leads one particular scene, that - in my opinion - is one of the most emotional of the series; when he tearfully asks what in package. Well at the end, of them all, he's the only one that got his happy ending and that's good for him.

Tweener; Also another sympathetic character. Even since he came to fox river, he's being manipulated, beaten, send around and that's accounted to his small stature. After the breakout, like the rest he wanted to the 5 million dollars prize. However on his way to Utah something nice happened to him. He met a girl and even developed a relationship, she helped him at the end which was sweet. His run was short-lived when he was arrested by Alex. His demise was shocking and a really sad way for the character to go.

Haywire; he is the least featured character of the Fox River Eight. He didn't care about the money. His dream is simple; to sail away to Netherland. He is later trapped by police up a silo and convinced by Mahone to commit suicide by jumping to his death.

On the whole, what helps held this show together is the good casting. The acting is fantastic. Each actor embodies their character very well. The character are easy to root for or otherwise. The show nevers get boring, always keeps you guessing thanks to the script's never-ending twists and turns. And judging by the ending, the next season is going to wild with different locations and more obstacles for Michael to overcome.
