The Northman (2022)

Good enough
24 April 2022
In the pursue of strong and bold violence, in the enlightment of liturgic parafarnalia, the movie delivers true excitement, with beautiful scenary and astonishing photography art, incredible moments of pure paganism and fantastic raw non-edulcorated rituals. Which actually resembles to The Witch previous movie.

The video editiion was bad at the least. Many parts compaginated together in a whimsical way, without any connection visible to the expectator.

ONE good thing was, I believed everything that happened in the movie. ALL was fully real and convincing. It didn't failed as a movie. Just a shame Willem Dafoe was only given 3 minutes of acting, and Anya Taylor-Joy just some passages of shakesperean feeling at the end.

The problem with viking movies, is that ALL of them have Ragnar's Vikings Series beneath them, a raised bar almost impossible to match in storytelling, violence, intricate politics, complexity of characters, and acting performance.

But I feel sorry I couldn't find an interesting movie, in the aspect of storytelling, I could't engage, the movie is easily synthethized with 1 word "REVENGE". I just felt pitty for what all this people had to experience and endure to become a civilized modern society of today, if I can make that conclusion, like Japan with Samurais.

Eggers (director) is a new type of movie directors like once was and still is Knight SHymalan, a pretty different and even more subtle creator. I thank he's there to keep making movies, I just hope next movie is more engaging.
