I appreciate that most people in the show looked like every day people. Not an expensively and unrealistically glammed up version of people.
I also appreciated that John and Beth's relationship wasn't supremely romantic and extreme. It mimics real people meeting in real life and it isn't perfect.
I liked that Beth took the courage to talk with Liz but they didn't become friends again. It made it more about the apology and bring vulnerable even if someone ultimately (and gently) rejects your offer of friendship.
