This came highly recommended so shelled out £30 to buy the new Eureka! Box set which also contains Warriors Two, both films remastered in 2K HD.
Very disappointed with this film. It is missing that star quality and clearly demonstrates why Yuen Biao couldn't make it on his own as Jackie did. Lam Ching Ying was also his usual weird asexual self. The comedy was rubbish, what is it with red nosed, mole on face people? Are they meant to be funny? I don't see it.
The action was also disappointing. By the time Sammo turned up 50 mins into the film I was already bored stiff.
There are PLENTY of other classics that deserve their reputation (Young Master, Magnificent Butcher, Snake in Eagles Shadow etc) but you'll notice all of them have a bonafide star as the lead. I can see why Biao was only ever good as a stunt man and second fiddle. However the blame shouldn't just lay on his shoulders. It is just a forgetful film, so the director Sammo needs to be held to account. I hope Warriors Two is not similarly disappointing.
