I went into this movie not knowing what it was about or having seen a trailer. Boy, was I in for a surprise! This was awesome!
Rebecca Hall stars as Beth, and delivers a FANTASTIC performance. Beth recently lost her husband to suicide. The incident is shrouded in mystery, and the mystery intensifies as Beth discovers more clues. This was such an engaging movie, I found myself glued to the screen wanting to know more, wondering what would be discovered next, and what Beth's next move would be. Beth is a very strong character, but also effectively portrays her vulnerability as a widow needing answers.
The film then suddenly changes direction, becoming nerve shatteringly creepy. I mean, bloody hell, it gave me gooseflesh! To a certain extent, the film reminded me of 'The Invisible Man' - also from 2020. 'The Night House' has a good script with stunning visuals. I wonder how many people will get the ending... If you don't, watch it again and pay close attention to a story Beth tells her friend, Claire, somewhere around the halfway mark. I absolutely loved this film!
