8/10
Charming in its unique strangeness

I don't think I have seen another show like Over the Garden Wall. With an unsettling autumnal Halloween feel to the setting and stories, the gorgeous art and animation alone make the series worth the watch. There are numerous horror elements that keep this from being a simple child's cartoon, and the plots within each episode and over the course of the series keep the show engaging and enthralling. Even with only ten episodes just over ten minutes each, a compelling narrative is spun and presented along with introducing the watchers to the fascinating (and rather creepy) world of The Unknown.

It is only my desire for more vignettes and a wish that there was greater inter-connectedness between the episodes that keeps me from rating this show higher. In my rating, I also have not taken into account my perusal of the companion book "Art of Over the Garden Wall" which instilled in me a greater appreciation for this series; I would definitely recommend lovers of this show to get a copy of that!
