Prometheus gave humanity fire, in his last film Tarr takes it away from him
8 November 2021
(Post) Apocalyptic films are often full of action, but not if the director is called Bela Tarr. In "The Turin horse" the world slowly fades away. The oil lamp and even the grate fire ultimately go out. In Greek mythology Prometheus gave the fire to the humans and thus started their emancipation. In "The turin horse" the humans lose the fire again.

Tarr announced "The Turin horse" as his last film, and up till now (2021) he has made no other feature film. The film indeed feels like a way of moviemaking taken to its ultimate conclusion. The takes can barely be longer and the storyline can barely be scarcer.
