Review of Firangi

Firangi (2017)
2/10
A film that did not deserve to made.

Firangi was made under the misconception, that an actor can sell any kind of story as long as he has a massive amount of fan following. Although, the theory is not completely incorrect, because actors like Akshay Kumar have turned ordinary scripts into successful films purely on the strength of their stardom. Kapil Sharma clearly miscalculated his star power, he may be successful but he is definitely not an Akshay Kumar.

Kapil Sharma needs to realize that even though he is a great comedian, that doesn't really make him a good actor as well. Kapil has touched millions of hearts through his comedy shows, and there is no other comedian as good as him on Indian Television right now. Kapil believes that only through movies can one become a superstar who will be remembered forever, which is not correct. Comedians and Talk Show Hosts like Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, and Ellen DeGeneres are extremely successful and popular worldwide. Not everyone needs to do the same thing, people need to stick to what they are best at.

Firangi is a very poorly made film with almost nothing in its screenplay. It's a story that did not deserve to be turned into a film. The acts that Kapil and his team perform on The Kapil Sharma Show are more enjoyable to watch than the film, and even those acts are not very well written, that's how boring 'Firangi' is. Kapil says that 'Firangi' is not a comedy film, it wasn't made with the intention of making people laugh, but the thing is people can watch movies of all genres but the content should engage them, you cannot throw substandard products at the audience and expect them to stand up and applaud for you.

Writing anything more would be pointless because 'Firangi' is a complete waste of time. The only good thing in the film are it's songs, but you don't need to watch the film to enjoy them.
