Sluggish in the middle but it works more frequently than not
4 September 2021
Sluggish in the middle with what appears to be a lack of material, and it probably goes a little too long as a result, but Stephen Herek's 'Afterlife of the Party' works more frequently than not. It's one of those films where you already know where it's going but it's fine if you just enjoy the ride. Victoria Justice and Midori Francis are perfectly placed in their respective parts, and they deliver strong performances with warm chemistry that bring their characters to life.
