The Eye 3 (2005)
3/10
No. Just no...

Well, it has been a slow, but steady downward slope for "The Eye" (aka "Gin gwai") franchise, ever since after the original 2002 movie. And this third movie in the franchise titled "The Eye 10" (aka "Gin gwai 10"), but oddly released as "The Eye 3: Infinity", was just the crowning achievement of the franchise, and this is where the franchise died for me.

This third movie in the franchise, as written by Danny Pang, Oxide Chun Pang and Mark Wu turns away from being straight forward horror to adding comedy elements to it as well, thus becoming a horror comedy of sorts. But not the good kind of horror comedy, mind you.

Sitting through "The Eye 10" is a difficult ordeal, especially since this is essentially an anthology of showcasing various Asian superstitions and rituals. So there was very little of a proper storyline to be enjoyed here.

While I initially watched "The Eye 10" back in 2005 when it was released, I had to sit down again in 2021 to watch it again, as I had entirely forgotten about this movie's story. I remember having seen it, but the contents were gone from memory. And sitting down to watch this anthology was not a blast, believe you me. It was boring, tedious and downright pointless unless you are Asian and have an insight into the superstitious world of Asia and folklore.

"The Eye 10" was a massive swing and a miss, and it doesn't even measure up to any of the predecessing two movies by a long shot. Nay, "The Eye 10" is like the cousin that the other two don't ever talk about or mention.

The acting performances in "The Eye 10" were adequate. Sure, I will give the movie that much. However, you are not being treated to any familiar or famous actors or actresses here, so you are not in for 1 hour and 26 minutes of particularly great company.

Do yourself a favor and stay clear of "The Eye 10", especially if you enjoyed either or both of the previous two movies in original Asian "The Eye" franchise.

This is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to watch again. There simply was no point in wasting 1 hour and 26 minutes on this.

My rating of "The Eye 10" lands on a generous three out of ten stars, based mostly on the production value here.
