They forgot to add comedy flavor to the soup...
15 July 2021
Well, "Hell Bank Presents: Running Ghost", for a romantic comedy just was somewhat of a swing and a miss in terms of managing to entertain me.

When I sat down in 2021 to watch the 2020 Hong Kong romantic comedy "Hell Bank Presents: Running Ghost" from director Mark Lee, it was with no particular expectations as I hadn't heard about the movie prior to getting to watch it.

But I must admit that the movie's synopsis sounded interesting enough, and with it being a Hong Kong movie, of course I needed no persuasion to watch this movie.

And watched it I did, sure, but the aspect of being entertained is a different matter entirely. Yeah, I found "Hell Bank Presents: Running Ghost" to be a rather bland and generic movie that was essentially devoid of funny moments.

I will say that they had adequately skilled actors and actresses on the cast list, sure, but they literally had very little to work with in terms of a properly interesting script and less than adequately fleshed out pardon the pun - characters to portray on the screen.

Ultimately then "Hell Bank Presents: Running Ghost" just didn't cut it for me. It offered nothing overly interesting, and it was a movie that snuck in under the radar, just as it will equally quietly disappear into oblivion without having left a lasting impression on me.

My rating of the 2020 movie "Hell Bank Presents: Running Ghost" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars. The Hong Kong cinema has far better movies to offer if you enjoy supernatural romantic comedies.
