Strange
16 June 2021
An attractive mom (Deanna Russo) moves into her new suburban house, waiting for her husband and kids to join her. In the meantime she meets her neighbours, who could've walked off the set of The Stepford Wives, and she does things that she shouldn't with hunky 18 year old Max (played by John Redlinger, who looks closer to 30). Meanwhile a creepy ice cream truck is driving around, the seller killing customers in gory fashion. This slasher aspect plays fiddle to the strange David Lynch style, dark suburban weirdness. And the end is simply one of those "what the !!???" It makes little, if any sense. I guess it's down to the viewer to interpret it in their own way. Shame as it lets it down. Traditional slasher fans will quite possibly get bored with its slow pace and low body count, it could have been better but I found the performances and characters good enough to keep me intrigued. It's certainly different!
