Roger and J. P are two huge Angels fans despite the team being in last place. They are foster kids as well. One day Roger's dad meets him and says sarcastically the odds of us being a family again are about as likely as the Angels winning the pennant. So Roger prays at night for divine intervention and he gets his wish granted.
Yeah it's cheesy but it brings back all sorts of good memories like loving the game for the purity of it despite how bad your team might be, faith, and hope in something bigger than yourself.
