Great film, terrible ending
22 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The film is great. Kumud Mishra drives the whole movie with his performance. Equally great performance by other actors in major and minor role. But...

...t he film goes downhill towards the end. The ending was totally uncalled for as if the director/writer were trying to force a sad unexpected ending so as to subvert people's expectation of an happy ending which basically crash landed the film.

*Spoiler*

Cut gets beaten by a bully. And suddenly, the cost of hospital bills falls on, not the hotel employer or the bully, but Charlie's shoulders when the film shows that Charlie has basically cut his contact and relation with his ex-colleagues from the circus.

The cheerful and helpful Shahjahan who goes out of his way to help people suddenly turns a greedy and evil hearted person, so much so that he threatens to beat up Charlie for money and also abuses and mocks Short for his dwarfism. The character personality goes 180° within minutes.

Charlie turns back and leaves the circus after seeing Shahjahan's nephew in Charlie's costume. I mean Charlie had quit the circus the day before the show. It was the big day and what was shahjahan supposed to do. He had to get a new charlie. It's not like Ram Singh was being replaced while he was still working as charlie.

What a good movie butchered by terrible ending. Filmmakers, just because you are doing an independent parallel film doesn't mean the ending has to be sad, heartbreaking and opposite to mainstream masala films. Please get out of this mindset.
