Just What I Thought It Would Be; Trash
7 January 2021
Cons: 1. The sound mixing is inconsistent with some of the sounds and moments of dialogue sounding as if they were added post-production. 2. The lighting is mostly artificial, and it gives the film a really ugly and cheap look. 3. The stock rock soundtrack feels overused and out-of-place, and it's obvious that it was all they had, because all of the songs come from Modern Time Machines. Furthermore, the ominous score is really overbearing and annoying. 4. All of the characters are bland, uninteresting, and wholly one-dimensional. 5. Every single performance is either really wooden or way over-the-top. Obviously the actors weren't helped by the woeful script. 6. The pacing is far too fast in the sense that it doesn't allow for any in-depth look into the characters and the goings-on. However, the pacing also drags as multiple needless plot-points are added in for extra drama. 7. None of the scares work, they're unintentionally hilarious and they're lazily inserted. 8. The gore is very rarely shown, which is strange for a thriller rated 18, but when it is shown, it looks awfully fake.
