Halahal (2020)
9/10
Intriguing, Egaging, Unvarnished

Halahal, is the first movie that made me write a review on IMDB, simply because it will be ungrateful if I did not praise it. I love Sachin Khedekar in any role, he is just so natural and real, he owns anything he does. On the other hand, Barun Sobit is simply extraordinarily versatile. The development in which these two characters interchanged their positions was almost imperceptible, and yet so familiar. While the actors and the execution of this movie were commendable, it is the motivation behind this beautiful movie that made me put on my thinking cap. This movie had so much to offer, there was grieving, loss, disappointment, guilt, and the biggest of them was the hint of defiance. I was disheartened to see that this small hope of righteousness did not save the day. But this movie did justice to the reality of the deteriorating education system in India, and the unconscious acceptance of these corruptions by the public. I don't know if I should be happy with the authenticity of the movie or be frightened of it. Franky, I was furious and questioning humanity for making this story so real.
