How is this getting such good reviews??

There are a number of missteps with this show.

1. If they want us to feel for the main character and the family for how incarceration changes a person as well as a family, why not dedicate the first episode to what life was like before the murder?

2. ALL the characters are monotone with zero depth. I have no idea after watching the entire first season plus a few episodes into season 2 who any of these people are other than one personality trait that the director makes them exhibit over and over again.

3. Some of the worst southern accents I've ever heard.

4. You can watch every 5th episode and you will literally not miss anything.

I just don't get the point of this show nor do I know what genre it is. There's zero comedy because nobody has a personality to be able to crack a joke. Not a romance, not a drama because again zero personality and definitely not a crime series because we don't even see the girl who died nor do they really go into detail about the crime.

I feel like the main character watched Shawshank Redemption and tried to channel Andy and never evolved from it. Andy is quiet and mysterious but we eventually know who he is, he's strategic and thoughtful. Daniel is none of those things, he might as well be brain dead.
