Not as innovative and creepy as the ring or grudge. (Leave alone the original versions which just manage to truly build an unsettling atmosphere). the echo is shot in muted colors which help to set the stage. Worn out, morbid, depressing. Unfortunately it ends there. The voices, story, characters, effects only rotate around the surface and never get right under your skin In my POV. There was room to explore the mystery further and to create something more memorable.
