Rather stodgy

Warning: Spoilers
HURRICANE SMITH is a South Seas adventure starring a youthful and bare-chested John Ireland as the titular hero, a good-natured castaway who battles pirates and slavers for supremacy in exotic locales. It's a highly dated kind of affair as these early '50s pictures always are, with the Technicolor format somehow making it look even more aged. A few familiar faces including Forrest Tucker's make up the supporting cast, while Yvonne De Carlo performs a native dance, but it's all rather stodgy and leaden, talky when it should be vibrant and exciting.
