Warning: Spoilers
I unintentionally watched this straight-to-DVD sequel before the original, 2-Headed Shark Attack, made by the same studio as Sharknado, but it didn't make any different, I knew it was going to be bad, directed by Christopher Ray (Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus). Basically, a 3-headed great white shark attacks a small where a group of teenagers are partying, all those on the beach are killed, apsrt from Mark (Stephen Harwick) who swam to a buoy. The shark then attacks the Persephone, an underwater research facility studying the pollution of the Pacific Garbage Patch. The resulting damage causes the facility to explode, killing everybody inside. Marine biologists Ted Nelson (Jason Simmons) and Dr Laura Thomas (Jena Sims) manage to escape, along with touring activists Greg (Brad Mills), Ryan Bennett (Scott Thomas Reynolds), Omar (Rico Ball) and Alison (Dawn Hamil), and Greg's ex-girlfriend, college graduate Maggie Peterson (Karrueche Tran), who was applying for a job at the facility. The facility floods, and the island it is on, forcing the group to swim out to a boat, Laura and Omar are eaten in the process. The others reach the boat, with the shark following them. Ryan radios for help, and gets in contact with fisherman Max Burns, asking for help. Burns does not believe that there is a 3-headed shark, but reluctantly agrees to help them hearing of the attacks. The shark next heads toward a boat full of partying teenagers. The group attempts to warn those onboard, but the shark starts ramming into the boat, knocking numerous people into the water where they are eaten. The group manage to get aboard and help some injured passengers. Nelson is eaten, and as the boat starts to sink, the group are joined by passengers Stanley (Rob Van Dam), Rosemarie (Brianna Ferris) and Howard (Carlos Javier Rivera). Ryan stays behind and attempts to impale the shark with an axe, but it kills him in retaliation. Running low on fuel, the group is forced to stop at the island that the shark attacked earlier. Meanwhile, Burns, and his two men attempt to kill the shark, with Burns' men killed in the process. Burns manages to decapitate the shark's middle head, seemingly killing it. When Burns finds the rest of the group, the shark suddenly reappears, growing three more heads in place of the middle head (like Hydra), and it eats Burns. Traumatised by Burns' death, the group run to the centre of the island, where they find Mark. Maggie theorises that the shark is attracted to pollution, and that the heads are becoming more aggressive with each other. The group finds two motorboats and begin to drive away from the island. One of the boats is attacked by the shark, killing Alison, Rosemarie, Howard, and Mark. Meanwhile, Maggie, Stanley and Greg manage to attract the shark's attention by throwing bags of garbage into the water. Stanley's hand is bitten off in the process (but you can clearly see it is still there when he is swimming). Stanley decides to sacrifice himself, causing the shark heads to fight each other, and it dies from blood loss after eating itself. Maggie and Greg rekindle their relationship as a helicopter arrives to rescue them. Trejo does his usual tough guy stuff, but almost nothing else, the whole cast are lame and wasted with terrible dialogue. It is a terrible idea for a shark movie, it looks very cheaply made, with repetitive underwater shots to save on the awful special effects and silly attempts at over-the-top gory deaths, and it is not scary, funny or exciting in any way, a pointless and abysmal science-fiction action horror. Poor!
