Ryan Reynolds returns to deliver more wry wisecracks as the mutant superhero with a knowing, self-reflexive sense of humour. Breezily acknowledging the laziness of the writing, the screenplay succeeds in its aim of delivering crowd-pleasing action and laughs, but the breakneck pace is so relentless that it's something of a relief when it's over.
