For viewers who are not mired in trying to attach actors from one film or series to their roles here (which is an odd way to approach a film that offers no such pretentions), this a beautiful, naturalistic and very enjoyable film that stands on its own, as intended.
Cold Brook is thoughtful without preaching - without forcing. Given the focal point of the story, it's remarkable that it does not feel forced or contrived. There is a natural build and flow here, with humor and warmth that are, again, not at all forced.
I'm sorry to read comments from reviewed who apparently expected something other than what the film offers; that's not a fault of the filmmakers or a flaw of the film at all. Cold Brook is what it tries to be - it succeeds as wonderful, warm, naturalistic and enjoyable film story. It's a wonderful achievement by tremendously talented people. There are few films like this; enjoy the generosity from the people who made it.
