It IS sad

Warning: Spoilers
The biggest obstacle this movie has against it is how slow it is. It doesn't let you know what kind of movie it is right away, and only gives out hints a little at a time. I wish I could say the eventual payoff makes it worth the wait, but I think a lot of people will have a problem with the ending. The movie follows a girl, Sai, who is learning to be a nurse in her tiny village. She's involved in a love triangle, while the community is plagued by some kind of supernatural presence. We eventually find out that Sai was infected with a curse and has been turning into the monster that's been killing animals every night. The movie does a good job making you care about Sai, but somewhere in the third act, my allegiance shifted. Sai was becoming responsible for other people's deaths and caused much suffering. At that point, it seemed selfish for her not to admit what was happening, but she continued to keep her secret. Her inevitable ending still feels unfair, and by the end, the scenes are getting as drawn out and melodramatic as the ending to Return of the King. I was never NOT enjoying this movie, but I was really wanting it to pick up the pace.
