Fantasy and Family
2 December 2019
Silly Red Shoes is the second movie of a new budding Director James Mayo after Ogie Alcasid's Kuya Wes. Director Mayo succeeded in giving his audiences the right mood in these two films. Silly Red Shoes anchors its story on a fairytale, mirroring the reality on the life of its lead star Ashley (Francine Diaz) and her old time classmate, Chuck (Kyle Echarri). It is also iwant's anniversary offering featuring the love teams of ABS CBN's " The Gold Squad"

The cinematography was breathtaking, it was useful to make you feel the culture and the vibes of the setting, and its fantasy mood! , however, for this movie it could have been adjusted for a more youthful feel, since teen stars were the lead and the majority of the target audience.

The story was very simple and direct to the point! Family stories like what has been depicted was not new but it was the performance of Mayor Herbert Bautista who made it beautiful. It was too palpable that Chuck and Ashley's love story took a back seat. It could have been more developed for the two teen actors a chance to promote their loveteam, as there were segments that are drudging and could have been used to move Chuck and Ashley's story forward.

Despite of it lacking climactic scenes, Silly Red Shoes is the right film for you if you want to step into the right amount of family stories and fantasy!
