Jonathan (2018)
So much promise but missed

Warning: Spoilers
Usually when I say a movie had me surprised by what happens next it is a good thing. In this case it was the movie lacked any logical progression. A man with multiple personality disorder is convinced his other personality is his brother. Why does he believe this? A doctor told him so in a criminal misdiagnosis. He finds out his "brother" has a girlfriend. Rather then being happy for his sibling he says he has to tell her about him or break up with her. This is a good suggestion as if he is going to be in a relationship with someone, mental disorders should be brought up. The "brother" can't do it so he breaks up with the girl. The brother than lapses into deep depression. Jonathan finds this out by finding the drugs that are being put in his body. The doctor says that is ok they have no side effects or even effect a person if they are not depressed. Again the doctor is criminally negligent. So at this point the girl wanting to know why she was broken up with shows up at the apartment where Johnathan explains his disorder. A good brother would than tell her to come by after 7. Depression solved, Relationship saved. Girl now can decide if she wants to continue with the "brother" Nope Jonathan starts dating her. They fall in love. To solve all conflicts all anyone has to do is include the other personality. They found the one girl in all the world who can love both of them. Nope they decide to keep it a secret with the girl saying at one point it is not like the other personality can walk in on us. Somehow the depressed brother loses his job at the all night law firm. Since Jonathan wants to work later hours he could ask his brother to help him out so they can both have a job. Nope. The doctor tells the depressed brother that Jonathan is in a relationship with the girl he loves and is surprised when the brother seeks vengeance. She is a horrible doctor and person. The "brother" having lost the woman he loves, the trust of his body mate, and his job considers suicide to the bewilderment of the genius doctor. She caused all this. If the personalities saw themselves as one person none of these problems would happen. Now the timer device starts shortening Jonathan's time because the "brother" is "thriving". This is after the doctor played a part in getting Jonathan fired and his girlfriend not wanting to see him anymore. The doctor says it is not the device she just replaced but it has one function that it is not doing. Jonathan's time is then shortened until he is dead. I don't expect the villain to get comeuppance in every movie. But the doctor should have a least been identified as the bad guy. By forcing one personality to become dominant she may consider this a cure but it could have been done while retaining the workable job and relationship. She literally destroyed the healthy parts of the individual's life with no regrets or acknowledgement of her role in all this. A La la land ending would have been perfect. If they saw themselves as one person with a mental disorder they could have had this life ( both in relationship with girl, both working successfully at architect office) instead they had the one as presented. It was like watching the Ranch. Stupid and morally corrupt people having bad things happen to them because they couldn't think of the right way to do things. I couldn't feel sorry for Jonathan because he had an easy way out the whole time.
