Gold Diggers in Paris seemed a fine last hurrah for Busby Berkeley before leaving Warners

Having heard about this one for years, the only reason I just watched this was because it was another early film appearance of Eddie Anderson as a doorman. Most of his film roles at the point were mostly bit parts like this but since by this time he was also on radio's "The Jack Benny Program", he would eventually get more movie time in supporting roles thanks to his employer I just mentioned. Anyway, this was quite an entertaining musical comedy starring Rudy Vallee, Rosemary Lane, Allen Jenkins, Mabel Todd, Edward Brophy, and Hugh Herbert. And this would become Busby Berkeley's last Warners dance assignment before moving to M-G-M and the Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland "let's put on a show" musicals there. Good songs by Harry Warren and mostly Al Dubin. "The Latin Quarter" is especially fine with paintings of various women then dollying to the real women who posed for them. That song, by the way, I'm mainly familiar with because Daffy Duck once performed that number in drag during one of his cartoons. Oh, and I was also entertained by a wacky Dixieland-style band who seemed a precursor to Spike Jones. So on that note, I recommend Gold Diggers in Paris.
