Review of The Cooler

The Cooler (2003)
9/10
A Wonderful and Well Done Drama About Gambling
24 January 2019
20 January 2005. William Macy and Maria Bello star in this dazzling, well-scored drama with suggestive hints of humor. The great acting performances, with lighting, cinematography, sound, music are all wrapped up into an edgy, raw, fusion of sights and sounds of gambling. Alec Baldwin offers up an old-time Casino manager that is complex and hard-nosed. The amazing score and music is captivating and the entire movie is a little gem with surprises, twists, and turns that makes for a meaningful and rewarding tribute to its director and talented stars in this movie. The sex scenes are rich with realism, this cinematic experience is an independent film full of treasured colored textures, little repeated snippets, suggestive echoes of special effects, of harsh language and dialogue that reflect a "Lost in Translation" expose with substance and direction. Nine out of Ten Stars.
