You probably already know the plot/script outline. God seems to be on vacation so angels, Satan & demons tussle for control of Earth. Our preacher has some answers but he's tussling w/his demonic angelic background. A zany, yet at times thoughtful, look at humanity (oh, can't forget those vampires). The series, using different writers for episodes, keeps it freshly off balanced & twisty surprising. The episodes w/the Messiah & Pope type character was outrageously funny. Can't forget Satan - never seen him so waggish wackily droll. Cautionary note - a bit of blood (just close your eyes).
Some may compare to the written version, but like all filmed interpretations of written works it stands on it's own as it's own beast.
