The Simpsons: Mr. Lisa's Opus (2017)
Season 29, Episode 8

A Very Bold Future Episode,

Mr. Lisa's Opus is a terrific Simpsons episode with a very well written story and a load of hilarious moments. I always love the episodes that explore the character's future, but this episode does so in a very unique way, showing us a side to Lisa we have not seen before and really taking advantage of her as a character.

The only thing I will say is that it did have the tendency to get overstuffed. Longtime writer and executive producer Al Jean wrote a very ambitious script that does, admittedly, stumble at times due to certain details being mentioned but never properly developed.

I have to applaud this episode for truly showing us Lisa Simpson to such an impressive degree for the first time in a while, jumping back and forth from past, future and present, showing her in college and having her struggle to find acceptance and happiness. The episode goes places that I never would have expected, showing us what they can do with Lisa that you never could with the likes of Homer and Bart, because she is an intellect with possibilities very different from the rest of the family.

Funny and heartwarming. Sweet, memorable, Mr. Lisa's Opus is one of the best Lisa focused episode's there's been in awhile.

Jumping back and forth from various of Lisa's birthdays, as she applies for college.
