Review of Cannibalism

Cannibalism (2002 Video)
Meretricious crap

Some folks go to jail for a cause: think civil rights protestors or journalists refusing to reveal their sources to governmental inquiry. But Lizzy Borden is one of those bottom-feeder pornographers who gets busted for breaking the obscenity rules -not dealing in kiddie porn but mixing extreme sex and ultra-violence in lousy videos like "Cannibalism".

Its title is a bit of a parlor trick to mislead, as the feature is about Satanic cult rituals and violence, with Mickey G. and his busty blonde girlfriend having sex with people and then killing them for food. The actual cannibalism of the title is not shown or simulated, but throughout the annoying video many subliminal images are fleetingly edited in showing blood or gore. To call this erotic would be a misclassification, as the violent nature of the forced sex predominates.

One of my least favorite porn actors of all time, Scott Lyons, is a big-dicked victim, along with his girl Brandi Lyons. Brandi plays it like an amateur rather than a seasoned sex worker in Adult Cinema, with her eyes closed during the forced sex, and even glancing at the camera (for assistance) at one point. She is part of the general cinema of ugliness, and Borden provides very little relief from the tedious misogyny.

It's not Lizzy's worst video - I would nominate "Rubber" for that distinction, but adds little to the cinematic depiction of Satanism which will surely continue with the current revival of interest in Aleister Crowley. If Borden had talent this might have resulted in a crossover feature of interest to horror fans, but it is merely another gonzo spectacle.
