Mediocre Sci Fi film with nothing that stands out really

"Hybrids" is a Canadian English-language short film from 2013, so this one will have its 5th anniversary next year. Writer and director is Patrick Kalyn and this is perhaps his most known work in both professions, even if he worked on some really huge blockbusters as a visual effects artist, "Avatar" for example. Sadly, judging from this 8-minute film we have here, I cannot say that I support future films from his as the man in charge. It is a pretty generic little SciFi movie where a hot young women chases alien creatures. The attempts to give it more depth by including daughter flashback scenes are not working out at all and they actually feel forced. In fact, the mere idea of keeping this a survival movie without trying to become a tear-jerker would have worked much better for sure, even if I am not sure if I'd given it a recommendation that way. The way it actually turned out, it was a really forgettable little movie though. Watch something else instead. Oh yeah, lead actress Daniella Evangelista does not seem to be related to Linda. Quick final side-note.
