A brief Sinatra history as told by those who knew him.

Warning: Spoilers
I found this film on Netflix streaming movies.

I never was a big Sinatra fan, probably because I was too young to experience his glory years, the 1940s through the 1960s. I was a teenager in the 1960s and started my career in the 1970s, and enjoyed a different kind of music. Of course the Beatles came along but I was more into Three Dog Night, Mammas and the Pappas, 5th Dimension, Chicago, groups like that.

I actually knew Sinatra more as an actor than a singer, after all he won an Oscar and after seeing that movie I saw why. To me he turned into a better actor than a singer. Technically his singing was very good but to me he had a somewhat boring voice. While I enjoy listening to his old recordings when the music is on I would never seek them out.

But the film is very nicely done, mostly a number of people in the business talking about Sinatra and sharing stories about him. No interviews of Sinatra, very little of the man himself aside from brief clips of some of his performances. Learning about his loves and marriages was interesting, as well as his origins in N.J.

A good film to see for anyone who wants a bit more insight into who Sinatra was.
