Rodrigo Garcia is a powerhouse. I've always enjoyed his feature filmmaking. He's daring, complex, and subtle. And his work on IN Treatment is unparalleled.

Therefore, I had high expectations going into CELIA, a short film he wrote and directed for an online network. Especially with the embarrassingly talented Dakota Fanning as one of the leads.

Unfortunately, after viewing CELIA, I was left unimpressed and underwhelmed. The subject matter - which is sensitive - and cleverly set up by Garcia - falls pray to false execution. I feel like too much was crammed into too short a time span. This film couldn't breath, instead it felt suffocated.
