Multi Cultural Comedy
28 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I saw "How To Be A Latin Lover", starring Eugenio Derbez-Instructions Not Included, Beverly Hills Chihuahua; Salma Hayek-The Grown Ups movies, Across the Universe; Rob Lowe-Monster Trucks, the Austin Powers movies; Raphael Alejandro-Kindergarten Cop 2, Once Upon a Time_tv and Raquel Welch-Legally Blonde, Mother,Jugs & Speed.

This movie is a comedy for multi cultural audiences-English & Spanish. In fact, it is the first American movie to be released simultaneously in English & dubbed to Spanish-If you are not fluent in Spanish, you might be careful if you go to see it in theaters because it is being shown in both English and Spanish versions. If you are like me-not fluent-you may be wondering why Eugenio gets top billing. That's because he was recently voted most influential Hispanic in entertainment. He is a big star that most Americans have never even heard of and that is what this movie is trying to rectify. Anyway, Eugenio plays an aging gigolo that has been living off of an elderly rich woman for the past 25 years. When she dumps him for a younger guy-Michael Cera in one of the many cameos scattered throughout the movie-Eugenio has to move in with his sister, Salma and her son, Raphael. Rob plays Eugenio's close friend and fellow gigolo, who happens to be living off of his own elderly fireball, Linda Lavin-another good cameo. Eugenio then sets his sights on his next conquest, Raquel-who still looks pretty good for her age, which happens to be 77! Back to the cameos; Keep an eye out at the kids birthday party and you might see Weird Al singing and also, the guy playing the younger version of Eugenio is actually Eugenio's real life son. Overall, I thought it was funny. It's rated "PG-13" for crude humor and sexual content-including some brief partial nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 55 minutes. I enjoyed it enough that I would probably buy it on DVD.
