Review of Black Widows

Black Widows (2016)
8/10
A delightfully well-balanced dark dramedy (with horror overtones - or should it be undertones?)
11 August 2016
This is a thoroughly enjoyable black comedy about revenge that gets out of hand. Three friends band together to get even for a devastating assault. Of course no one will listen to or believe the victim, so they set out to balance the scales of justice--but justice tips over into disaster as the playbook goes out the window on the first encounter.

Director Ozols-Graham has done miracles with a tiny budget--squeezing every single bit of production value out of every well-crafted sequence. And she manages to keep the story tripping along the balance beam of black humor and dramatic horror. This mix of genres has created a truly interesting and entertaining film.

Emotions trump CGI and humor jumps out as effectively as the unexpected plot twist. Black Widows is worth your time. Enjoy!
