Review of Tower

Tower (2016)
10/10
Moving and Inspiring

Was able to view this at deadCenter Film Festival in OKC with the filmmakers in attendance. The film is all that the other reviewers say; immersive, surprising and tastefully done. The most interesting part was the Q&A after the film. The filmmakers shared their stories of why they wanted to bring this story to light, and shared the responses they received from people that were there that day. So many emotions. This is the first documented mass shooting in modern times, and seeing it unfold and seeing how people responded in light of how we respond now to mass shootings was one reason named. Another reason named was the fact that no one at UT really talks about it. I grew up knowing about it up here in Oklahoma, but was surprised no one at UT shared the story. And the fact that many of the survivors didn't want to revisit the events also was interesting. I would highly recommend this film, especially if you get to visit with the filmmakers.
