Night Peacock (2015)
A messy, randomly directed, edited pointless pretentious film
29 May 2016
This film is another living example of how the modern day Chinese movie makers, screenplay writers and directors trying so hard to do certain deeper and decent films but in the end, simply turned out to be pathetically lost their way of doing things right.

What we got here was making a Chinese young woman to become a naturalized French, yet at the same time, still a 100% typical Chinese woman who tried so hard to get connected with the Chinese silk culture. Here we got a production with moronically scripted messy screenplay, the story-line was so unbalanced, the localities jumped around like blind frog between France and Hubei, China. The messy screenplay had forced the director to follow the pointless yet so falsely pretended as a deep soul-searching poetically and cosmetically nice film. But alas, all were lost in the translation! We saw the heroin encountered three males, one older and mature guy in Hubei, China, who was so pretentiously tried to play flute to the silkworms in the cocoons before sending them into the furnace. Then another guy, a tattoo artist lived in France, who ridiculously and so co-incidentally was the younger brother of the former mentioned guy in China. Then a much younger guy who fell for the French Chinese in the swimming pool.....blah, blah and blah, but all the scenarios and plots simply turned out to be so pointlessly stupid.

The screenplay writer(s) just tried to use the silkworms and the silk to link a totally pointless messy film yet just turned out to be a "WTF?!" full-of-unanswered-questions big NADA.

The editing of this film was also so messy and so confusing. Time and location sequence were just no-exist. Romance? Give me a break. There's nothing there either. Tattooing on the ankle and on the back of the heroin were just gimmicky shallowness to lure Peeping Toms to watch the rare exposed flesh of actress Liu, but the sensuality was also lost in the making of a pretentious and pointless messy film.

We cursed after 45 minutes of any GPS could have guided us out of the mess and decided to bail out in the middle of the silk road.
