Will I have to put him to sleep? Is it going to rain? Will this be in the papers? Is this going to hurt? All of these questions can end with the term "afraid so" and that's exactly what we get in this wonderful short directed by Jay Rosenblatt from the poem by Jeanne Marie Beaumont. AFRAID SO runs just two minutes and what we get are dozens of questions being asked and of course the follow-up to them is afraid so. I really loved this short for a number of reasons but one is the terrific narration by Garrison Keillor. There's no question that he adds a lot to the film as he makes for the perfect tone to pull off the sly remarks. Another great thing were the actual clips shown to help answer the questions. I wasn't aware of the poem before watching this but that certainly didn't take away from the entertainment.
