The Eye 3 is really a bit of a mixed bag because while more of the creep factor has returned (something the second movie didn't really have so much of), the story is pretty lame...the worst of the three films actually as the previous two had good, enjoyable stories supporting them. Plus this time it's as if the Pang Brothers tried to throw a bit of comedy into the mix - something the previous two definitely didn't have - but it never really worked. In fact, the funny moments in The Eye 3 turned out to be just cheesy more than anything (the break-dancing scene being the main one).
It kind of ends up being a bit all over the place in part with it going from serious to comedic then back to being serious again, and even some of the more serious moments drew a bit of a chuckle even though I don't think they were supposed to be funny.
The Eye 3 is definitely not on the same level as the first film (which was a given really as it would have been some film to reach that level), and is more on par with the second with some aspects being better than that one and vice versa...the story and the creepy moments being the main ones. The second had a much better story, but this one has more creepy moments. One thing that is good about this installment, though, is that it has tie-in's with the previous two movies i.e. the wee "report card" boy and the elevator scene, so in a way this one is a bit more of a sequel than what the second one was.
Anyway, the paper thin plot and the comedy scenes just ruined it for me and if it was more serious like the previous two, I may have enjoyed it better than what I did.
Overall, it's not too bad, but it's just another one of those Asian horror films that's really just a bit of a "time filler" more than anything else. If you've seen the previous movies, then I'd say give this one a go, but other than that I'd leave it alone.
