Review of Repo

Repo (2010)
2/10
Rather Lame Comedy
12 December 2013
Although this movie was made apparently in 2010, I just saw it in redbox as a new release, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I thought very little worked and that it was rather a lame comedy. It's not mean-spirited and I imagine was trying to be a funny quirky film, but to me almost all the humor fell flat as a pancake.

It was written and directed by Ben Gourley, who also stars in the movie as Leon, a terribly awkward and mild mannered manager of a small apartment complex, who wants to eventually become a real estate agent. He's best friends with T.J., portrayed by Jason Mewes, who's polar opposite in personality to Leon, being often aggressive and outgoing.

Together Leon and T.J. repo vehicles for extra cash. However, T.J. is constantly working on a wild rather lame-brained and illegal plan to eventually steal back the vehicles they've repossessed.

A whole slew of quirky characters come in and out of the movie. Perhaps the best of these supporting characters was Izabella Miko, who plays Timmy a sexy red-headed waitress who loves danger. Also, Linda McKeon is believable as Dominique, an attractive tenant in the complex that Leon manages, and a possible love interest for him.

All in all, I just felt this film and the humor in it never really clicked for me, and I would say you would probably be better off trying something else.
