Sorry but I just could not stick with this. I watched it because of Elizabeth Moss's part in it. She actually looked very promising and was handling the role well. That said the whole thing was unutterably dreary and depressing. Jane Campion is a much overrated director -I hated The Piano. What's more I just cannot stand Holly Hunter - she ruins every film I have ever seen her in - she is mannered and annoying in the extreme. Jane Campion obviously loves her work (inexplicably). Peter Mullan is a terrific actor but I only ever seem to see him in vicious, violent roles and it is becoming tired now.All in all my wife and I were really disappointed in the whole thing. Perhaps we should have stuck with it but I got the feeling it would only bring us both down.
