Tom's trip to the beach starts badly; he rushes out of his beach hut and gets is bathing costume caught in the door which sends him catapulting backwards, then in his second attempt the water goes out as he dives in leaving him 'swimming' in a variety of garbage! It looks as if things will be better out of the water when he spies Toodles, his favourite female, on the beach. He doesn't get chance to put his moves on her though as scraps of food start getting thrown out of the picnic basket and landing in him; of course it is his nemesis Jerry! Inevitably violence ensues and Tom gets the worst of it; especially when a particularly angry crab gets involved!
While this isn't a classic episode it is still pretty funny; featuring plenty of their trademark violence. This things they do to each other are inventive; I particularly liked Jerry's use of a beach umbrella and the effects of Tom swallowing an inflatable beach toy. The crab was a good addition to the regular cast; angry and just as likely to snap at Jerry as Tom... unlike most small creatures who tend to team up with Jerry.
