Scream of the Banshee (2011 TV Movie)

I heard the scream and liked it

When I saw the name Steven C. Miller as director I thought of his sublime flick Automaton Transfusion. But when the flick started I saw SyFy present. I was scared. Face it, most of SyFy productions are total crap. Done with cheap and bad CGI. But I gave it a try because it's in the After Dark series.

What a way to start if you don't put the name Lance Henriksen on front of your DVD cover. He's in it a few times and at the end an important part but they didn't choose to make a use of his name. The other actors aren't that famous although they did appear in other horrors or even blockbusters.

The flick itself wasn't that bad after all. I had seen the trailer and was convinced of the banshee. Luckily this time they opted to use real effects and some CGI instead of a lot of CGI. Here and there a few editing faults, you know, one shot some looks that way, next shot he looks a bit differently. Classic mistakes but one I noticed being in the television world itself. There are a few things that look weird like when your ear starts bleeding due the scream of the banshee that you aren't deaf after wards.

The story itself was simple but it did work out fine. The blood do runs now and then, but it's never gory or extreme on any parts. It's a horror as seen so many times but for me it worked. I don't know if it's After Dark that is asking not to do nudity but in all the After Dark flicks seen so far there's no nudity even as for example the banshee seduces one of the guys with just a red rope, you can see her naked body but not the stuff guys want to see. I heard the scream and I liked it.
