Review of The Saviour

The Saviour (2005)
Humorous and clever 17 minute film short.
28 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The religion is never mentioned or hinted at, but it looks a lot like young Mormon men going door to door in pairs to spread the word. It is set in Australia. As the film begins, one of them, with a cherubic face, is clearly undressed and in bed during the day, with a sly smile, while a woman is dressing off-screen. When she appears, he tries to continue nuzzling her, but she tells him it is time to leave, and he is to quit visiting her. This is obviously upsetting to him.

Eventually he is able to meet the husband, who turns out to be a fine bloke. The woman returns from shopping, finding the young man inside speaking with her husband, she panics and goes off-screen to vomit. The husband explains that she is pregnant, and it must be a miracle since they had been trying for 10 years and their doctor told him he is unable to fertilize an egg. He also explains that she is an atheist.

In the end, the husband is converted by virtue of the "miracle" and, as the young man pushes a copy of the bible in his directions says, "There are many more in here."
