Review of Flicka

Flicka (2006)

Beautiful Film
28 February 2007
The opening of this film gave me shivers, as I often had dreams of owning a huge ranch in Big Sky Country, and there it was, just as I have always pictured it, right there on my giant screen television. It was breathtaking, moving and brought tears to my eyes...the beauty of it all.

I have been horse crazy from day one. I've read nearly every story centered on horses and do remember Maureen O'Hara's "My Friend Flicka." I was lucky to have received a beautiful horse for my 8th birthday, whom I named Cimarron. He was the joy of my life for many, many years.

This film is a wonderful adaptation of O'Hara's story. I was surprised how much my husband and I enjoyed the film, though Tim McGraw's acting could use some refining. To everyone who has ever known the joy of being around horses, or just finds them to be pure magnificence on four legs, you will understand the core and passion of this film. The love for a horse will make you do just about anything.

Overall... beautiful family film and lovely entertainment.
